For my dissertation I shall be making a 3D model of a Tau Hammerhead Tank from Games Workshops Warhammer 40,000 table top game, pretty much like this one:
I'll be making effectivly three copies of this tank, a low poly version and two high poly versions (one that's clean and one that's all battle worn) the high poly versions will be made using ZBrush, while the low poly version will be done in good old 3DSMax. Of course all the models will be textured and made to look all nice and pretty.
Once the modelling is done I'll then do some basic animations, like it hovering, travelling, aiming, firing, etc. Then finally I'm going to import it into a basic environment made with the Half Life 2 SDK (Source Developer Kit) called Hammer. So in other words it'll be using the steam engine.
So here are some progress renders from one days worth of modelling (and not even that, more like half a days worth):
3/4 view, very early on
front view, very early on
3/4 view, getting there the back is starting to look right
front view, it's starting to take shape
And the underside, just because...
More as it gets done.

So, what happened to your thesis? I think designing the tank would be just easy for you, but writing it would be hard. I think it would be good to read sample thesis abstract from other people who also write with the same topic like yours.
